The Tenebrae is a church service that is held on Maundy Thursday, the night before Good Friday. It is characterised by the gradual dimming of light, usually as candles are extinguished during a series of Bible readings. The records cover Jesus’ last meal with his disciples through to his arrest, trial and crucifixion.
This reflective time is an opportunity to gain greater appreciation for all that Jesus endured. It lays a foundation for Easter Sunday – the joy of celebrating Jesus’ resurrection and the depth of his love for us.
