Bruce Spencer – Transitional Pastor
Hi there! You might be asking, “Who is this new interim pastor?” Here are a few glimpses: I love Jesus, seek to be real, see my family as one of the greatest gifts God has given me. And I am constantly amazed at God’s mercy.
I came to faith at 26, which began this incredible journey of discovering what it means to follow Jesus. This led to us heading off to Morling College to find out more about God, and while there discovering God’s call into pastoral ministry. I have served for over 29 years as either a sole pastor or team leader at Glen Innes, Singleton and Jervis Bay Baptist churches. An interest in helping churches facing change, together with my experience and skill set, led me to complete training in Intentional Interim Ministry. Now, Faye and I consider it a wonderful privilege to walk with Gracepoint Christian Church in preparation for the next part of its journey.
Both of us have the desire to know our God more deeply and seek to apply God’s word to life. Faye has a background as a computer analyst/programmer. She helped raise three children and supports Bruce. She enjoys mixing with other people doing craft including folk-art, quilting, scrapbooking, card making and games. Now she loves being ‘grandma’ to a delightful 1 year old [majorly biased view!] and is looking
forward to living closer to family. Meanwhile, I am learning to be a ‘grandpa’. I like motorcycles [I prefer to wear more than just Lycra], play computer games and read manga.
Both of us have enjoyed hitching up the caravan and exploring this wonderful country we live in, taking plenty of photos and creating wonderful memories together. Recently we did a six-month trip exploring the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
Faye and I are excited to be at Gracepoint as together we go through this intentional interim process and prepare ourselves, as the body of Christ, to serve the wider community and each other. It is exciting what God has planned for us. While I did not pose for the painting below, I do like the message, only wanting to add the words — “and trust God”.
